5 string solid Carved-back from the estate of
Dalton Dillingham

Dalton told me this bass is Italian and from the 1700's. I am not educated enough to know the truth. It is certainly very old, and a serious bass, especially for a 5/8ths. This one is strung high C. The back carve is unusual, having facets leading out of the bend in the upper bout, and also has a horizontal ridge carved in at the direction change. If anyone can tell me about this I'd love to know more.
Of the 4 basses I have from Dalton's estate, this is the one I could imagine keeping. If Only!
