I got this as a trade-in and spent some time
getting it to play and sound as best it could, which turned out to be
far better than it looks. The finish has been altered away from
whatever the original maker was thinking about, but does do a decent
job of protecting the wood, and is not more abundant than necessary;
good things. Someone repaired the open seam on the back, and while it
works well enough that I saw no need to repair it further, it does not
enhance the appearance of this bass, which is why it is relatively
affordable. There is some flame in the back, though the finish does not
show it as well as it might. The only other negative I see is that the
fingerboard is on it's last legs. Any further set-up issues, and it
will need to be replaced. On the other hand, it is playing just fine
and ought to for 5 to 10 more years before the set-up issues actually
come up. The tuners are nicely engraved and not too trashed by time or
abuse. I want $3400.
